Reminder: The CYSA Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday, June 4th. Some amendments and updates to the CYSA Constitution were proposed at the last monthly membership meeting held on May 7th. These proposed changes can be viewed below. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the AGM cannot be held in-person. We are still investigating how to allow CYSA public membership participation through a virtual AGM meeting online. More information will be provided here if and when we find the right solution. Additionally, you can always visit the Board of Directors page to email any of the Board Members with questions, concerns, or feedback. As always we thank all of our soccer players, families, volunteers, and sponsors and continue to look forward to the day we will all enjoy soccer together on the fields again!
Superliga has cancelled the Spring 2020 Competitive Season. Chariho Youth Soccer will provide a 100% reimbursement for fees within the next 7-10 days. Stay safe⚽️⚽️⚽️
On behalf of CYSA, we hope all of you are staying safe and healthy and doing well during these challenging times.
The current situation in RI has forced Super Liga to move the start of the Spring Super Liga season from May 2nd, to later in May. The date is yet to be determined as all associations/clubs review multiple options, and see where the situation goes in the next couple of weeks. There cannot be any organized soccer team training until at least April 30, per state mandate.
We all are trying to remain optimistic about the possibility of playing this spring. We will continue to meet as an organization and communicate with you, as updates become available. Thanks.
Chariho Youth Soccer Association
Competitive Soccer players and Coaches please be advised Super Liga and Soccer RI are requesting all RI clubs suspend all activities for the next two weeks. In light of this, CYSA Soccer is suspending all practices and trainings effective immediately, through Sunday 3/29.
At this time, ALL GAMES scheduled from April 4th – 15th are postponed and will be rescheduled. We will review the situation weekly and provide any new information as necessary.
In these moments of ever-changing developments and evolving information Soccer Rhode Island & The SuperLiga have been monitoring the Coronavirus situation closely. Over the past week, SRI and SuperLiga have been working together and exchanging feedback from US Youth Soccer, RI Department of Health, Rhode Island Department of Education, our neighboring state associations and our own independent medical community professionals to gather the most up-to-date and relevant information. Our primary and foremost focus is and always will be to the safety and well-being of our soccer community and their families. At the order of Governor Raimondo this past Friday to close all schools for the next week, SuperLiga has suspended all scheduled games until April 15. Effective immediately, SRI has requested that all club activities, practices, academies, trainings, and games be suspended until April 15 as well. Suspension of all SRI activities also extends to our Annual Hall of Fame Awards & Banquet scheduled for later this month and those players currently enrolled in PDP Session III. Additional communication will be sent to those players regarding instruction for the remainder of the sessions. As this is an evolving and fluid situation, we will continue as we have been, to monitor the developments as they progress and will notify you immediately of any and all updates. As we have seen, self-reporting and encouraging social distancing is playing an important part in trying to combat the spread of this disease. With this in mind, we ask that you include SRI on the list of people/organizations that you will inform if necessary. All personal information reported will remain confidential. If you have a confirmed or suspected exposure that is worthy of reporting to your place of employment or your children’s school (if relevant), please also include us.
To reinforce health safety and best practices for illness prevention, please read the list below:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Stay home when you are sick.
Turn your head away from any individual to cough or sneeze into your elbow or cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
Follow the CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask.
CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including Coronavirus.
Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms to help prevent the spread of the disease.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
Please see the following additional resources and communications which may provide further answers to your questions.
